Ulcerative Colitis is an inflammatory disease of the large intestine also called the Colon. The inner lining of the intestines becomes inflamed and develops Ulcers. (An Ulcer is a sore which is open and painful.) Ulcerative Colitis is most severe in the rectal area and can cause frequent diarrhea.

Crone’s Disease
Crone’s Disease commonly effects the last part of the small intestine (the terminal ileum) and parts of the large intestine. Crone’s disease inflammation can extend to the intestinal wall.

Inflammatory Bowel Disease
This is a chronic disease that causes inflammation of the intestines.

On June 26, 2009, Roche pharmaceutical company, one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical manufacturers, recalled its Accutane acne medicine product. Roche stated it was withdrawing Accutane after an internal reevaluation of the drug.

The truth is Accutane is a very dangerous drug which causes Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Ulceritis, Colitis, and Crohn's Disease, not to mention birth defects and depression.

Accutane was a giant drug for Roche and its Hoffman Laroche American subsidiary. The product had been manufactured and sold since 1982. Over 13 million people have taken Accutane.

Roche failed to warn the public about the increased risk of Inflammatory Bowel Disease. We believe Roche knew of the connection between Accutane and Inflammatory Bowel Disease since 1994. Roche never reported the problem to the FDA or changed its labeling to reflect that Inflammatory Bowel Disease could occur from using Accutane.
