Banquet Pot Pie Recall

Banquet Pot Pies have been the subject of a October 9th public warning by the United States Department of Agriculture to avoid eating the chicken and turkey varieties.

The Pot Pies in question are the not ready to eat variety that come frozen and need to be cooked.

Thus far, the USDA has stated that a hundred and thirty nine cases of salmonella cases have been linked to the Banquet Pot Pies.

The Pot Pies were manufactured in Missouri at the Con Agra Foods plant.  Production of all food products at the plant has been halted.

No pot pies have yet been recalled but refunds are being offered with mail in refunds and store returns.

The banquet and store brand pot pies affected by the health alert are marked with "P-9" printed on the side of the box as part of the use by date code.

Salmonella Poisoning

Salmonella sickens more then forty thousand people each year.  Its symptoms include fever, abdominal pain, nausea, gas and bloody diarrhea.  Symptoms usually occur within thirty six hours of exposure and last usually between four and seven days.  It is particularly dangerous for children, people with weakened immune systems and the elderly.
