The Transportation Department released statistics that 5,300 people died in crashes involving trucks or buses in 2006; and about 126,000 were injured. The leading causes of serious trucking accidents are drivers falling asleep, suffering heart attacks or seizures or otherwise being physically impaired.

Sixteen Accidents-Not All Trucking Accidents

There were two separate accidents within hours of each other in Olive Township on Wednesday afternoon. The trucking accident was at one of the deadliest intersections in Michigan. Over the past two years, there have been 16 crashes at the intersection of U.S. 31 and Port Sheldon Road and it was the site of another deadly trucking accident Wednesday.
