California Crestor Side Effects LawyersCrestor, a prescription drug which is used to treat people who suffer from high blood pressure, has been associated with fatalities, kidney problems, and Rhabdomyolysis among patients. Rhabdomyolysis is a serious disorder of the muscles, and is considered to be "the most severe form of statin muscle injury," by the FDA. Rhabdomyolysis occurs when the skeletal muscles breakdown and release into the bloodstream, which may result in acute renal failure. Crestor (Rosuvastatin), which is made by the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca, was approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) in August 2003 to reduce the cholesterol levels in patients with cholesterol levels that were dangerously elevated. The drug is a "statin", which is prescribed to patients who have high blood pressure as a way to lower blood pressure, and thereby reduce the risk of cardiovascular problems. Although the medication has not been recalled, there are serious concerns regarding the safety of the drug, resulting from the dangerous side effects that some patients have experienced. Recently the FDA ordered the manufacturers of Crestor to put a label on the product informing patients that the prescription may cause serious side effects including harm to the kidneys and disorders affecting muscles. There have been several reports released regarding the seriousness of the side effects linked to the use of Crestor, which has spurred the Food and Drug Administration to recommend that patients who take Crestor use weaker doses to lessen the chances of experiencing side effects or fatalities caused by the medication.
