Defense Base Act

We are a California law firm representing workers who are injured overseas and who seek to make a claim for their injuries under the Defense Base Act. Although we are in California, Defense Base Act claims are national and we therefore review claims from coast to coast. Wherever you are, we can help. If you or a loved one has such a claim please contact us or complete the inquiry form on the right. An intake specialist will contact you immediately.

Defense Base Act Workers Compensation claims involve workers who work for American contractors overseas including in war zones such as Iraq and Afghanistan and all other countries worldwide in which a civilian employee was or is working for a private company who had or has a contract or sub contract with any governmental agency, including the Department of Defense, State Department, etc. There have been thousands of employees injured overseas working on overseas projects.

We are investigating injury claims of civilian workers hired by American companies to work in Iraq, Afghanistan and neighboring countries in the Middle East. We are investigating claims of workers who worked for Kellogg, Halliburton, Brown and Root (KBR), Bechtel, Dyncorp, and CACI. These companies were involved in various construction projects under contract with the United States. If their employees were injured or wounded in any type of wartime setting the employee can file a claim to obtain Workers Compensation benefits under the Defense Base Act, which is a Federal Workers Compensation Law covering injury claims while an employee is working for an American company overseas - through a United States government contract. We have reviewed cases of workers who built embassies in foreign countries, airports, oil fields, roads, transportation facilities, power plants, water filtration systems, etc.

We are investigating claims of physical injuries as well as mental injuries including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

In order for you or your loved one to obtain the full benefits under the Defense Base Act Workers Compensation claims Act, you must act quickly. Without specialized legal assistance, it is unlikely you will know how to obtain all the benefits you are entitled to.

If you have been injured while working in Iraq, Afghanistan, or any other Middle Eastern country building embassies or while working for an employer under contract with the U.S. government, you should contact us to understand the Defense Base Act and your rights. The California based law firm of Nadrich & Cohen has many years of experience representing accident victims. We are anxious to help you. Because our Defense Base Act law firm is a national law firm we are handling Defense Base Act claims in all 50 states. We are presently handling multiple cases throughout the country as well as for Americans citizens living outside of America. Please complete the "Do I have a case" form on the right to see if you have a case. One of our Defense Base Act specialists will review your information and immediately respond to you.

The Defense Base Act specifically assists overseas civilian workers who were injured on the job and had been hired by American companies who contracted with either the American government or the American military. The example of course is Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, and similar such countries. These companies contract with the military and/or Government and include such companies as Halliburton, Bectel, Dynacorp, Caterpillar, Kellogg - all under contract with various branches of the United States government. We also handle civilian employees building embassies and other U.S. government buildings throughout the world.

These employees have taken part in country building projects in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, and other countries. These injured employees can be compensated under the Defense Base Act which allows injured workers and/or their families who are injured or killed to become eligible to receive weekly benefits from time lost on the job, lost pay and be compensated for their injuries or death. It also includes coverage for medical bills and medical related expenses.

In order to qualify a private company who contracts with the American Government must purchase a Workers Comp insurance policy covering Defense Base Act claims. This is separate insurance coverage.

The Defense Base Act requires notice to the employer within 30 days of the injury. A claim must be filed within one year of the date of injury.

Please contact us if you think you or your loved one has a Defense Base Act claim. We will explain all the benefits to you. You can fill out the "Do I Have A Case/Claim" on the right or call us at 800-718-4658 to speak with a Defense Base Act specialist."
