The National Law Firm of Nadrich & Cohen is actively representing Fosamax femur fracture victims in every state throughout the country. The February online edition of the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) contained the results of a large case control study of whether Fosamax causes femur fractures known as Subtrochanteric Femur Fractures. The study’s conclusion was that patients who used Fosamax on a long-term basis had a 274% higher probability of sustaining a femur fracture than patients who were not on bio-bisphosphonates such as Fosamax. The conclusion was that prolonged Fosamax use is directly associated with increased risk of femur fractures.

If you or a loved one suffered a femur fracture while on Fosamax, please contact us immediately. We have gathered a world-class team of doctors, lawyers, paralegals and nurses to represent and take care of our femur fracture clients. We have already compiled all of the necessary damage profiles, scientific evidence and lawsuit strategy to represent you or your loved one.

Fosamax, a Merck drug, prevents Osteoporosis in post-menopausal women. Unfortunately, it has been proven that there is a link between Fosamax, which is a bisphosphonates, and the serious vascular disease Osteonecrosis of the Jaw (ONJ). Osteonecrosis is a disfiguring and disabling condition of the jaw bone, which causes severe and recurring infections and rotting of the jaw bone.

There have been numerous medical studies linking Fosamax to fractured femurs. Long term Fosamax use often causes the dense bone in the femur to become brittle and break easier. We are presently investigating from coast to coast numerous cases of women who suffered leg fractures and had to endure surgery due to their Fosamax use. Studies have indicated that Fosamax users are 139 times more likely to develop femur fractures than non-Fosamax using women.

We are actively investigating fractured femur claims of long-term Fosamax users who have broken their leg (femur bone) and had surgery. If you or a loved one fractured their femur while on Fosamax, please have them call one of our Fosamax team members at 800-718-4658 or complete the email questionnaire on your right. We want to help you. A team member will respond immediately. We are reviewing and handling Fosamax fracture femur cases from coast to coast.

The Wall Street Journal states on September 20, 2011 that concern is rising that the biophosphonates osteoporosis drugs such as Fosamex which are supposed to slow bone growth carry a risk of serious side effects including osteonecrosis of the jaw and a sudden, unusual fracture of the thigh bone. Earlier in September 2011 the FDA advisory panel recommended that the FDA require stronger warning labels for Fosamex.

The FDA stated it is considering the panel's recommendation. In 2010 5 million US women took biophosphonate drugs including Fosamax, Actonal and Boniva.

The panel said that patients should weigh their individual risks. Other kinds of osteoporosis drugs are available and more are expected in the coming years. From the Wall Street Journal.

Tuesday, September 6, 2011

The Food and Drug Administration Advisory Panel (FDA) met on Friday, September 9, 2011 to make recommendations on whether or not the use of Fosamax should be restricted to a certain time period due to the extraordinary amount of femur fractures due to long term Fosamax use.

Because the drug slows down the breakdown of bone commonly caused by Osteoporosis, it is believed to block the body’s natural process in removing and rebuilding bone tissue, creating thereby making the bone more brittle and susceptible to this rare type of thigh fracture as well as greater susceptibility to jawbone decay, known as Osteonecrosis of the Jaw.

Fosamax was approved in 1995 and is part of a group of medications called bisphosphonates. The drugs have been approved to treat Osteoporosis, which occurs most frequently in post-menopausal women in their 50’s, who have developed low bone density.

Other drugs in this category, include: Actonel, Boniva, and Reclast, a once a year infusion.

Many physicians have stopped or shied away from having younger women who are at risk of Osteoporosis begin using Fosamax. It is yet unknown what length of Fosomax use triggers the unique condition that causes the fractured femurs to occur.

There are at least 5 million patients (mostly women)in the United States who are on Bisphosphonate therapy. Unfortunately, Fosamax greatly increases the risk of a rare atypical thigh fracture occurring.

There have also been reports of jaw bone decay, otherwise known as Osteonecrosis of the Jaw. This condition has been seen in patients after long term Fosamax use.

If you or a loved one has developed a fractured femur or a thigh bone fracture while on Fosamax, please contact one of our Fosamax Fractured Femur Side Effect Specialists at 1-800-718-4658. We have been representing Fosamex fractured femur clients for years. We are investigating hundreds of cases and are reviewing victims’ claims in all 50 states. We have put together a world class team of doctors, expert witnesses, lawyers and staff to pursue our clients’ Fosamax fracture femur claims against the manufacturer, Merck and Company.

On May 5, 2011, a study was published in the New England Journal of Medicine concerning the effects of fractured femurs to long-term Fosamax users.  The study concluded that these women had statistically borne a 47.3% higher risk of suffering a fractured femur from the use of Fosamax versus women who did not use Fosamax.

As Femur Fracture Fosamax lawyers this is further confirmation of our belief that Fosamax causes femur fractures, even when there is little or no trauma such as coming out of bed in the morning, taking a step, or standing up or falling from a standing height.

There is no doubt that the manufacturer of Fosamax, Merck Pharmaceuticals, did not properly warn consumers and medical providers of this danger. In October 2010, the FDA required Merk to add warning labels concerning the risk of femur fractures from Fosamax.

We are investigating Fosamax fracture femur cases around the country.

Please contact us if you or your loved one suffered a fractured femur while you or your loved one was taking Fosamax.

We are contingency lawyers, so it will cost you nothing unless we first obtain a recovery against the manufacturer. Please contact us.  Do it today.  We will not obligate you to pursue a claim, even after contacting us.  The choice is always yours.

Please contact one of our Fosamax fractured femur specialists at 1-800-718-4658 or complete the email at the right. We will respond to you within 24 hours.

As we stated above, we are actively investigating Fosamax cases where the injury is a femur fracture. It is formally called a Subtrochanteric Femur fracture. Unfortunately for Fosamax victims, these fractures are occurring with little or no trauma to the body or to the leg. The FDA on October 13, 2010 disseminated an advisory opinion/ letter warning to known Fosamax patients and to medical providers advising them of the high risks of femoral fractures linked to Fosamax, which are from the Oral Bisphosphonate family. There is a consolidated litigation regarding Fosamax in New Jersey.
