Conagra Foods has recalled its “Peter Pan” and “Great Value” Peanut Butter labels

Conagra Foods on Feb 14th, 2007 recalled specific lots of the Great Value and Peter Pan Peanut Butter brands due to Salmonella contamination and numerous reports of illnesses from peanut butter users who used Peter Pan and Great Value Peanut Butter.

The FDA in its Feb 14th warning warned consumers not to eat Great Value brand peanut butter, (a Wall Mart brand) or Peter Pan Peanut Butter.  This is because of widespread reports of Salmonella poisoning.

The recalled peanut butter jars have product code 2111 on the jar lid.

The Conagra Peanut Butter facility is in Sylvester, Georgia.

Salmonella, is a bacteria that can cause illness when ingested.

Thus far, there have been hundreds of reported cases of salmonella poisoning in at least 39 States due to the consumption of certain types of Peter Pan Peanut Butter.

There are victims throughout America.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) on Feb. 13th identified Peter Pan Peanut Butter as the likely cause of the illness.

If you or a loved one have become sick after eating Peter Pan of Great Value Peanut Butter you have legal rights and should contact us immediately.

Remember, the symptoms of Salmonella poisoning are as following.

  • Dehydration
  • Abdominal Cramping
  • Vomiting and Nausea
  • Diarrhea, Headache and Fever

The recall had previously included all Peter Pan and Great Value peanut butter made from May, 2006.  The recall now includes all peanut butter made by ConAgra at its Sylvester, Georgia plant from December 2005 forward.

The peanut butter recall has also been expanded to include products other than jarred peanut butter. ConAgra sold some of the peanut butter in bulk to another manufacturer where it was incorporated into other products. The products at issue are:

1. Sonic Ready_to_Use Peanut Butter Topping in 6_pound, 10.5-ounce cans. This product may also have been used in peanut butter shakes, peanut butter fudge shakes, peanut butter sundaes and peanut butter fudge sundaes made by Sonic up to February 16, 2007; and

2. Carvel Peanut Butter Topping in 6-pound, 10_ounce cans. Carvel also used the topping until February 16, 2007, in Chocolate Peanut Butter, Peanut Butter Treasure, Peanut Butter & Jelly and Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Sundae Dasher ice cream products, and peanut butter-flavored ice cream in Carvel ice cream cakes.

The salmonella outbreak started in August and has thus far been confirmed to have sickened 370 people.”
