September 12, 2008 California Metrolink Train Accident and Derailment.

The Metrolink commuter train that crashed into the Union Pacific freight train in Chatsworth was due to the negligence of the Metrolink train engineer and the traffic signal that should have alerted the engineer to stop the train.  The Metrolink train engineer was at fault for failing to heed the red signal, causing the crash with the freight train that claimed 25 lives, left 135 injured, 40 critically injured.
