Many large companies with in-house information technology (IT) departments are choosing to pay their IT employees on a salary basis. Such positions should be paid on an hourly basis due to the enormous amount of overtime that is usually required for such a position. IT positions require long hours, late night projects and even weekend projects or hours in the office, all of which cut into a person’s personal and family life. But instead of being compensated for it, like any hourly paid employee, salary paid employees get no compensation whatsoever for such effort.
