Man Dies in Watsonville Accident
Watsonville, CA (May 22, 2018)–An accident on Highway 1 in Watsonville has led to fatality. The crash happened on the morning of May 22.
The fatal crash occurred in the southbound lanes of Highway 1 near Mar Monte Avenue exit. A Chevrolet Suburban heading south veered off Highway 1, crashing into a guardrail. It then flipped over, hit a tree and landed on a steep embankment.
The driver, an 18-year-old man from Santa Cruz, suffered minor injuries. His passenger, a 29-year-old man from Santa Cruz, was not wearing a seat belt. He was ejected from the Suburban and died at the accident scene.
Fatigue appears to be the cause of the crash. No arrests have been made yet.
