DUI Suspect Rear-Ends Vehicle in Fatal San Diego Accident

San Diego, CA (March 23, 2019) – One person was killed and three others were injured in a crash in San Diego. The fatal accident occurred on the morning of March 23 on State Route 163.

The crash happened when a DUI suspect crashed into a ride-share vehicle on southbound State Route 163 near Quince Drive. A Lexus sedan rear-ended a Mazda sedan, causing one vehicle to go down an embankment.

The driver of the Lexus, a 22-year-old woman, has been charged with driving under the influence. The Mazda was carrying two passengers and was being used as a ride-share vehicle.

A 30-year-old man from San Leandro was ejected from the Mazda. He suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital. The other passenger, a 40-year-old man from San Francisco, died at the accident scene. Both drivers also suffered injuries.
