2-Vehicle Accident in Gaviota Leads to Fatality

Gaviota, CA (January 31, 2019) – Two people were killed and another was injured in a crash in Gaviota. The fatal accident occurred on the afternoon of January 31 on Highway 101.

A Honda Element was heading south at the bottom of the Nojoqui Grade when it hydroplaned on water on the road and went into the northbound lanes. It hit a Jeep Cherokee.

The driver of the Element, a 48-year-old woman from Porterville, and a 75-year-old Buellton man who was a male passenger in the Jeep Cherokee were both killed in the crash. The driver of the Cherokee, a 65-year-old woman from Buellton, was flown to a local hospital to be treated for major injuries.
