2 Killed in Crash on Highway 101

Two women were killed in a car accident on U.S. 101 in Humboldt County when they lost control of their vehicle on the morning of April 13. The two women from Eureka – a 20-year-old driver and 19-year-old passenger – died at the accident scene.

The women were in a Honda Civic traveling south on Highway 101 south of Salmon Creek Road whenthe driver lost control of the car. The car crossed into the path of a van traveling north and the vehicles collided. Both women were wearing seatbelts.

The driver of the van, a 69-year-old woman from Arizona, suffered major injuries in the crash. She was airlifted to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for medical treatment. The highway was shut down for several hours after the crash.
