Police Pursuit of Stolen U-Haul Leads to Accident in Cupertino
Cupertino, CA (September 2, 2018) – A police pursuit involving a stolen vehicle led to an accident in Cupertino. The crash happened on the morning of September 2 at Stevens Creek Boulevard and Wolfe Road.
Police were first dispatched to an alarm at a GameStop located at Stevens Creek Boulevard and Saich Way. A deputy saw a suspicious U-Haul in the area and tried to pull it over. The driver took off and the police pursued the U-Haul.
The driver continued on until it crashed into a vehicle on Stevens Creek Boulevard at Wolfe Road in Cupertino. Two people were trapped in the U-Haul. They were injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment. A 65-year-old driver in the other vehicle complained of pain but did not suffer serious injuries.
Once the suspects are released from the hospital, they will be booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail. They are facing several criminal charges, including stealing a vehicle, burglary and felonious vehicular evasion.
