2 Dead, 3 Injured in Susanville Accident
Susanville, CA (August 21, 2018) – Two died and three were injured in a DUI crash in Susanville. The fatal accident happened on August 21 on US-395.
Chester resident Douglas Hansken, 67, was heading north on US-395. He was driving a GMC Sierra pickup when he lost control and swerved into the southbound lane.
He side-swiped a Chevrolet Cruze carrying four passengers. He kept driving and hit a Hyundai Elantra carrying five passengers head-on. The GMC then rolled over and was hit by a Ford Escape with four passengers.
One person died at the accident scene. Another was taken to a local hospital and later died. The others involved were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
Hansken was arrested at the accident scene. He faces charges for driving under the influence and gross vehicular manslaughter. He was also hospitalized for his injuries.
