Driver Falls Asleep in Shandon Accident

Shandon, CA (May 13, 2020) – A passenger in a semi truck was injured when the driver fell asleep and crashed in Shandon. The accident occurred on the morning of May 13 at Highway 46 and Antelope Road.

A semi truck was hauling food when the driver fell asleep at the intersection. The truck crossed into the adjacent lane and tipped over. It then rolled onto its side. A driver and passenger were inside the truck. The passenger was asleep in the sleeper cab, unrestrained.

The passenger was airlifted to a hospital with major injuries. Driver fatigue was the likely cause of the crash.
