1 Killed, 1 Injured in Crash on Interstate 80 Near Central Avenue

Driver Arrested for Felony DUI in Fatal Richmond Accident

Richmond, CA (June 8, 2019) – One person was killed and another suffered serious injuries in a DUI crash in Richmond. The fatal accident occurred on the evening of June 8 on Interstate 80.

A Nissan Sentra was speeding in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80. The Nissan hit a Mercedes-Benz SUV near the Central Avenue exit. The impact caused the Nissan to lose control and overturn. Two passengers were ejected from the vehicle. One died at the accident scene. The other was airlifted to a local hospital with major injuries.

The driver of the Nissan was arrested and charged with felony DUI. Nobody inside the Mercedes was injured.
