Alcohol, Cell Phone Use Causes of Fatal Delano Accident

Delano, CA (August 29, 2019) – Alcohol and cell phone use led to a crash in Delano that killed one person and injured another. The fatal accident occurred on August 29 on Cecil Avenue.

The driver of a car was drinking alcohol and using Snapchat while driving. His vehicle veered into the path of a pickup truck on Cecil Avenue, near Reed Road. The two vehicles collided head-on. The driver, an 18-year-old man, died at the accident scene. His cell phone was found on his lap.

His passenger, also 18, was injured and airlifted to a local hospital. The driver of the pickup was not injured. Beer cans were found at the accident scene.
