BMW, Jeep Collide Head-on in Fatal Salinas Accident

Salinas, CA (June 19, 2019) – A crash in Salinas has killed one person and injured two others. The accident occurred on the morning of June 19 on Highway 101.

A BMW was heading south on Highway 101, near Potter Road, when it crossed the median and went into the northbound lanes. The BMW hit a Jeep Cherokee head-on.

The BMW went through a ditch and hit a fence before landing on its roof in a work yard off Potter Road. The driver of the BMW, a Gonzales resident, died at the accident scene. A 25-year-old passenger, also from Gonzales, was hospitalized with minor injuries.

The driver of the Jeep, 28-year-old Rachel Payne of Gonzales, was also hospitalized with minor injuries. Her passenger, 27-year-old Justin Payne from Gonzales, was not injured.
