1 Killed, 2 Injured in Crash on State Route 76 Near Bodie Road

Car Goes Down Embankment in Fatal Pala Accident 

Pala, CA (August 20, 2020) – One person was killed and two others were injured in a solo-vehicle crash in Pala. The fatal accident occurred on the morning of August 20 on State Route 76.

A 30-year-old man was driving a Subaru sedan on State Route 76 when he went down an embankment near Bodie Road. The man went unconscious after the crash but was later able to call 911 the following morning and request assistance. The Subaru was found 300 feet down a steep embankment, on Wilderness Gardens Preserve. 

Emergency crews found the man and his 11-year-old son. The body of the child’s mother, a 30-year-old woman, was found nearby. She died at the accident scene. The family was from Oceanside.
