
1 Killed, 3 Injured in Crash on 10 Freeway Near Kellogg Drive
Police Looking for Driver Who Caused Fatal Pomona Accident
Pomona, CA (January 24, 2021) – One person was killed and three others were injured in a multi-vehicle crash in Pomona. The fatal accident occurred just after midnight on January 24 on the 10 Freeway.
A Honda Accord was disabled on the westbound 10 Freeway when it was rear-ended by a Chevrolet Malibu. The impact pushed the Honda forward, hitting three people who had gotten out of the car.
A 41-year-old man from South Gate died at the accident scene. The other two victims, identified as Velma Soto, 39, and Luis Miranda, 20, also from South Gate, were hospitalized with major injuries.
The Honda came to rest on its side near the Kellogg Drive off-ramp. The Chevrolet Malibu became disabled on the freeway. Moments later, a Chevrolet Cruze collided with the Chevrolet Malibu. The driver of the Cruze – Christaphore Ruffin, 32 of Barstow – suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
The driver of the Malibu fled the accident scene before police arrived. Police are still looking for the driver.
