1 Killed, 3 Injured in Crash on Highway 101 at Yerba Buena Road
Alexander Zumini Arrested for DUI in Fatal San Jose Accident
San Jose, CA (June 10, 2019) – One person was killed and two others were injured when a high-speed chase led to a crash in San Jose. The fatal accident occurred on the morning of June 10 on Highway 101.
A BMW was driving erratically on southbound Interstate 280, near Seventh Street. Police tried to pull over the driver, identified at Alexander Zumini, 28. He continued on, at speeds exceeding 100 mph.
Police then followed Zumini to Highway 101, where he then exited the highway at Yerba Buena Road. He ran a red light at the intersection and collided with a minivan with two men inside. The driver of the minivan died at the accident scene. A passenger suffered serious injuries and is hospitalized in critical condition. Zumini and a female passenger in the BMW, San Jose resident Melissa Dawn Vincent, 27, were both injured in the accident.
Zumini admitted to using methamphetamine before driving. He had an arrest warrant and faces multiple charges, including DUI, felony hit and run, gross vehicle manslaughter, drug possession and felony evading a police officer.
