Woman Arrested for DUI in Fatal Valley Center Accident

Valley Center, CA (August 3, 2019) – A woman was arrested for DUI after causing a crash that killed a woman and injured three others in Valley Center. The fatal accident occurred on the afternoon of August 3 on Valley Center Road.

A 55-year-old woman from Indio was driving a Toyota Camry on Valley Center Road when she tried to pass another vehicle. While doing so, her car slammed head-on into a Toyota Corolla.

The Corolla was driven by a 79-year-old man from Escondido who had two female passengers, ages 67 and 84. The man and the 67-year-old woman suffered major injuries and were taken to a local hospital. The 84-year-old woman died on the way to the hospital. 

The driver of the Camry was hospitalized with moderate injuries. She was arrested for DUI and will be booked upon her release from the hospital. A dog was in her vehicle, but was not injured.

PG&E Says It Knew Its Lines Could Spark Fires

PG&E Corp acknowledged in July 2019 that it has known for many years that its power lines could fail, sparking wildfires in the process. The acknowledgment came in a federal court filing which had been mandated by U.S. district judge William Alsup, who had ordered PG&E to respond to a Wall Street Journal article on a “paragraph-by-paragraph basis.”
