Texting Leads to Fatal Rear-End Accident in Live Oak

Live Oak, CA (June 30, 2019) – A girl was killed in a multi-vehicle crash in Live Oak. The fatal accident occurred on the afternoon of June 30 on Highway 99.

A 24-year-old Live Oak man was driving a Ford F-250 pickup truck south on Highway 99 near Live Oak Boulevard when he rear-ended an Acura Integra. The man admitted to texting at the time of the crash. 

A girl in the Acura was ejected from the vehicle. The girl, a Wheatland resident, died from her injuries. A Honda CRV in front of the Acura was also rear-ended by the Ford.  The chain-reaction crash involved five vehicles, as two other vehicles collided with the damaged vehicles. 

The F-250 burst into flames. Five people were injured altogether, with two occupants of the Acura suffering major injuries. Two women in another car suffered minor injuries. The Live Oak man suffered moderate injuries.

PG&E Says It Knew Its Lines Could Spark Fires

PG&E Corp acknowledged in July 2019 that it has known for many years that its power lines could fail, sparking wildfires in the process.
