1 Killed, Candice McCarty Injured in Crash at Walnut and Central Avenues


Jose Marin Guizar Jr. Arrested for DUI in Fatal Winton Accident

Winton, CA (November 29, 2020) – A man was killed and a woman was injured in a DUI crash in Winton. The fatal accident occurred on the evening of November 29 at Walnut and Central avenues.

A 33-year-old Atwater man was driving a Honda Civic when he was hit by a Lexus IS 350 at the intersection. The driver of the Lexus, Jose Marin Guizar, Jr., 23, had lost control and crossed into the oncoming lane, hitting the Honda head-on

The Honda caught fire due to the impact. Some good Samaritans were able to pull the passenger, Candice McCarty, 34, from the wreck. The driver of the Honda was killed in the crash. 

McCarty was taken to a local hospital. Guizar was arrested for felony DUI.
