1 Killed in Crash at Monterey and Tully Roads


Vehicle Hits Light Pole in Fatal San Jose Accident

San Jose, CA (August 14, 2019) – One person was killed after a police chase in San Jose. The fatal accident occurred on the morning of August 14 at Monterey and Tully roads.

CHP officers tried to pull over a vehicle for suspected DUI on Highway 87. The driver exited on Curtner Avenue, but the driver sped away and police discontinued their pursuit. 

San Jose police officers later found the vehicle at the intersection of Monterey and Tully roads. It had crashed into a light pole, gone through a chain link fence and then hit a parked truck trailer.

The passenger was killed in the crash, while the driver was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

E-Cigarette Use Linked To ‘Cobalt Lung’

A case study published in the European Respiratory Journal in December 2019 described a 49-year-old in California who developed hard-metal pneumoconiosis after using e-cigarettes for only six months. The disease is also known as “cobalt lung.” The National Institutes of Health describes the disease as a “rare but serious disease of the lungs associated with inhalational exposure to tungsten or cobalt dust.”
