1 Killed in Crash on Highway 3 Near Slate Creek Road


Mayra Romero-Garcia Arrested for DUI in Fatal Lewiston Accident

Lewiston, CA (May 23, 2020) – One person was killed in a DUI crash in Lewiston. The fatal accident occurred on the evening of May 23 on Highway 3.

Mayra Romero-Garcia, 33, was driving a Chevy pickup on southbound Highway 3, near Slate Creek Road, when she veered across the center line. She then overcorrected at a high rate of speed and lost control, causing her to hit several trees along the side of the road.

A male passenger died at the accident scene. Romero-Garcia was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. She was later arrested for DUI causing fatality.
