Jeep Overturns in Fatal Newcastle Accident

Newcastle, CA (December 23, 2019) – One person was killed in a solo-vehicle crash in Newcastle. The fatal accident occurred on the evening of December 23 on State Route 193.

A Jeep Cherokee was heading south on State Route 193, near Taylor Road. The driver lost control and swerved into the adjacent lanes. The Jeep then crashed into a sidewall and overturned. The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the Jeep. They were taken to a local hospital, where they later died.

E-Cigarette Use Linked To ‘Cobalt Lung’

A case study published in the European Respiratory Journal in December 2019 described a 49-year-old in California who developed hard-metal pneumoconiosis after using e-cigarettes for only six months. The disease is also known as “cobalt lung.” The National Institutes of Health describes the disease as a “rare but serious disease of the lungs associated with inhalational exposure to tungsten or cobalt dust.”
