Driver of Box Truck Dies in Fatal Palo Alto Accident

Palo Alto, CA (August 4, 2019) – A man was killed in a crash involving a box truck and a fire engine in Palo Alto. The fatal accident occurred on the morning of August 4 on Highway 101.  

Fire Engine 64 was designated as the “safety support vehicle,” where certain engines serve as roadblocks to oncoming traffic. The crew was tending to another crash on southbound Highway 101, near Embarcadero Road, when a box truck hit the left rear of the fire engine.

It took about 30 minutes to cut away the wreckage. The driver of the box truck, an adult male, died at the hospital.
