2 Killed in Crash on 101 Freeway Near Borchard Road

3 Vehicles Involved in Fatal Newbury Park Accident

Newbury Park, CA (February 4, 2021) – Two people were killed in a multi-vehicle crash in Newbury Park. The fatal accident occurred on the afternoon of February 4 on the 101 Freeway.

A Kia Sorento SUV, driven by Gina Garcia, 58, of Ventura, was on the northbound 101 Freeway when it drifted into the adjacent lane and collided with a Chevrolet SUV near Borchard Road. Both drivers lost control. The Kia hit a Toyota sedan and went onto the shoulder, where it hit a tree. 

Two passengers in the Kia – a 24-year-old woman from Oxnard and a 25-year-old man from Ventura – died at the accident scene. Garcia suffered major injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
