2 Sheriff’s Deputies Shot, Injured in Ambush

Police Looking for Suspect in Compton Shooting

Compton, CA (September 12, 2020) – Two sheriff’s deputies were shot in an ambush in Compton. The incident occurred on the evening of September 12 at a Metro rail station.

The deputies – a 31-year-old woman and 24-year-old man – were shot while sitting in their patrol car at the Metro Blue Line station at Willowbrook Avenue and Compton Boulevard. The gunman walked up and opened fire through the passenger-side window without warning. Both were shot in the head but were able to radio for help. 

The deputies were taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood, where they underwent surgery. They are in critical condition and fighting for their lives. Both had graduated from the academy just over a year ago. 

A massive manhunt is underway to catch the shooter. He is described as a man wearing dark clothes.
