2 Teens Killed in Crash at State Route 62 and Rosella Drive

Nicole Packer Arrested for DUI in Fatal Morongo Valley Accident

Fatal Accident 8

Morongo Valley, CA (June 12, 2019) – A woman was arrested for DUI after causing a Morongo Valley crash that killed two teens. The fatal accident occurred on the evening of June 12 at State Route 62 and Rosella Drive.

Two vehicles collided at the intersection. An eastbound driver was attempting to make a left turn into the Circle K when it crashed into the westbound vehicle.

There were four people inside the Toyota Prius, while the Ford Fiesta had just one occupant – the driver, Morongo Valley resident Nicole Packer, 33.

Packer was speeding before the accident took place. The driver of the Prius, Los Angeles resident Colin Campbell, 49, suffered major injuries. The front seat passenger, Gail Lerner, 49, of Los Angeles, suffered moderate injuries. Two teen passengers, ages 14 and 17, were taken to local hospitals, where they later died.  Lerner is executive producer on ABC’s “Black-ish” and has been co-executive producer on “Ugly Betty,” “Happy Endings” and “Will & Grace,” according to the Internet Movie Data Base.

Packer suffered major injuries in the crash. She, Campbell and Lerner were taken to a local hospital. Packer was later arrested for felony DUI.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to the friends and loved ones of the victims.

Hidden FDA Database Concealed Reports of Surgical Stapler Malfunctions

A hidden FDA database of medical device failures was shut down in June 2019. The database contains medical device reports submitted to the FDA via its Alternative Summary Reporting Program from 1999 to 2019. Reports which were sent to this database were not, until recently, made public. The Alternative Summary Reporting Program is a non-public database, unlike the FDA’s MAUDE database which publicly logs medical device failures or defects for public review.
