3 Killed, 2 Injured in Crash on Interstate 15 Near Halloran Summit Road
Head-on Accident in Nipton Causes Fatalities
Nipton, CA (September 16, 2019) – Three people were killed and two others were injured in a crash in Nipton. The fatal accident occurred just before noon on September 16 on Interstate 15.
The crash happened on the southbound 15 freeway, near Halloran Summit Road. A 31-year-old man from El Cajon was driving a Ford Explorer northbound on Interstate 15 with a 25-year-old woman and a 1-year-old boy.
The man made an unsafe turning movement that caused the Ford to cross the dirt center divider and became airborne. It then entered the southbound lanes of Interstate 15, colliding head-on with an Isuzu box truck.
The 38-year-old male driver of the Isuzu and his 54-year-old female passenger, both from Bakersfield, were killed in the crash. Both died at the accident scene.
The driver of the Ford and the infant suffered major injuries and were airlifted to a local hospital. The female passenger was not wearing a seat belt and died at the accident scene.
