
3 Killed in Crash on Grand Avenue
Truck Crashes Into Canal in Fatal Thermalito Accident
Thermalito, CA (April 12, 2020) – A man and two children were killed in a solo-vehicle crash in Thermalito. The fatal accident occurred on the evening of April 12 on Grand Avenue.
Colby Allen Brookman was driving a GMC Sierra west on Grand Avenue. He was speeding and could not stop in time when the road ended. He crashed into a fence and went down an embankment. The GMC then went airborne and entered the Thermalito Dam canal.
Brookman and a female passenger were able to get out of the GMC. However, three other passengers – a 32-year-old Oroville man and two children – were stuck in the back seats.
The Oroville man died in the accident. The two children – ages 1 and 7 months – were taken to a local hospital, where they died the next day.
Brookman was arrested and taken to a local hospital with major injuries. He is being charged with felony driving under the influence and felony child endangerment.
