3 Killed in Crash on State Route 78 near El Camino Real

SUV Hits Fence, Pole in Fatal Oceanside Accident

Oceanside, CA (November 5, 2020) – Three people were killed in a solo-vehicle crash in Oceanside. The fatal accident occurred on the afternoon of November 5 on State Route 78.

A Mitsubishi Outlander was traveling on westbound State Route 78 when it veered off the freeway and went down an embankment near El Camino Real. It then hit a fence and a signal pole before catching fire

The three occupants were trapped inside and died at the accident scene. The driver has been identified as a 43-year-old Escondido man. The passengers were a 56-year-old Escondido man and a woman.
