6-Year-Old Killed, 4 Others Injured in Crash on Interstate 5 Near County Road 22
Shane Carlyle Arrested for DUI, Manslaughter in Fatal Woodland Accident
Woodland, CA (June 18, 2019) – A 6-year-old was killed and four others were injured in a rear-end crash in Woodland. The fatal accident occurred on the evening of June 18 on Interstate 5.
Shane Carlyle, 34, was speeding in his BMW on northbound Interstate 5 near County Road 22 when he rear-ended a Nissan pickup. The impact caused the Nissan to go down an embankment and stop in a field.
A 6-year-old boy inside the truck died at the accident scene. Three other children – ages 6, 7 and 10 – suffered major injuries and were taken to a local hospital. The driver, 29-year-old Luis Figueroa of Woodland, suffered moderate injuries.
Carlyle was arrested for DUI and manslaughter. He is being treated at a local hospital and will be taken to jail upon his release.
