Teen Dies in Fatal Bakersfield Accident

Bakersfield, CA (June 30, 2019) – A 13-year-old boy was killed in a pedestrian crash in Bakersfield. The fatal accident occurred on the evening of June 30 on Niles Street.

A group of teenagers ran south across Niles Street outside of a crosswalk before traffic approached. When a vehicle approached, three of the teens returned to the shoulder. One boy, however, kept on running. The boy, identified as Alejandro Vargas, Jr. of Bakersfield, was hit by a car. The 13-year-old was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.
