Algetta Strother Killed in Crash on Ninth Street

Mother, Son Were Street Racing in Fatal San Bernardino Accident

San Bernardino, CA (June 8, 2020) – A woman was killed and a man was arrested in a mother-son street race in San Bernardino. The fatal accident occurred on the evening of June 8 on Ninth Street.

Steven Strother, Jr. was driving a Buick Century and allegedly racing his mother, Algetta Strother, 54, who was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe. They were traveling on Ninth Street, near Waterman Avenue, when they both tried to pass a Toyota Camry. The Buick collided with the Toyota, which then caused the Tahoe to lose control. The Tahoe rolled over, hit a tree and a light pole.

Strother was ejected from the Tahoe. She died at the accident scene. A passenger in the SUV, a 21-year-old woman was injured and taken to a local hospital. The occupants of the Toyota were not injured. Strother, Jr. was arrested for DUI and vehicular manslaughter.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to the friends and loved ones Algetta Strother.

How COVID-19 Affects Personal Injury Cases

Common, everyday events continue to occur unabated by the COVID-19 pandemic, including slip and fall accidents, car accidents and dog bites. Victims of these accidents can still file personal injury lawsuits as a response to these events, regardless if we’re in the middle of a pandemic. There are some issues that the pandemic creates, however, relating to these lawsuits, and these issues make it even more important than usual for injury victims to contact an attorney so they can discuss their legal options and rights and how to maximize their financial recovery.
