Alyssa Alexus Contreras Killed in Crash on 605 Freeway Near Rosecrans Avenue


4 Vehicles Involved in Fatal Norwalk Accident

Norwalk, CA (February 5, 2020) – A woman was killed in a multi-vehicle crash in Norwalk. The fatal accident occurred on the morning of February 5 on the 605 Freeway.

A Toyota Corolla was traveling in the slow lane of the southbound 605 Freeway, near Rosecrans Avenue, when it went across all lanes of traffic. It was then hit by a Dodge Ram pickup truck and a Honda Accord. It hit the center divider and overturned. It landed on its roof and was hit by a Chrysler PT Cruiser.

The driver of the Toyota, Alyssa Alexus Contreras, 24, from La Puente, died at the accident scene.  The driver of the Honda Accord, Jose O. Estrada, 42, of Pico Rivera, was hospitalized with major injuries. The driver of the Dodge, Jonathan J. Villalpando, 28, of Fontana, suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. The driver of the Chrysler, Milton Max Marquardt, 46, of Ontario, was not injured.

E-Cigarette Use Linked To ‘Cobalt Lung’

A case study published in the European Respiratory Journal in December 2019 described a 49-year-old in California who developed hard-metal pneumoconiosis after using e-cigarettes for only six months. The disease is also known as “cobalt lung.” The National Institutes of Health describes the disease as a “rare but serious disease of the lungs associated with inhalational exposure to tungsten or cobalt dust.”
