Angela Martinez Gómez Dies From Coronavirus While Working at Burger King


Victim’s Co-Workers File Complaint with Cal/OSHA After Santa Monica Fatality

Santa Monica, CA (July 6, 2020) – An employee at a Burger King restaurant in Santa Monica has died from the coronavirus. The woman died on July 6.

Angela Martinez Gómez worked at the location at 1919 Pico Boulevard. Despite showing symptoms of COVID-19, she was forced to come into work. Employees are concerned about Gómez’s death and want more protections. On July 10, several employees protested. 

A store manager claimed that Gómez’s death was caused by hormone use, as Gómez was transgender. Cal/OSHA was notified of the fatality and is currently investigating.
