Celia Lardizabal Marco Dies From COVID-19 While Working at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center
Shortage of PPE Leads to Nurse’s Death

Los Angeles, CA (April 17, 2020) – A nurse at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center died after working with coronavirus patients without proper PPE. The woman, who had worked at the hospital since 2004, died on April 17.
Celia Lardizabal Marco, 61, was working with patients who tested positive for COVID-19. Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center faced a shortage of personal protective equipment, so Marco wore only a surgical mask while treating patients, rather than an N95 mask.
Marco tested positive for the disease on April 15. She died at the hospital just two days later. The hospital claims it will provide staff with appropriate levels of personal protective equipment as mandated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to the friends and loved ones of Celia Lardizabal Marco.
