Caltrans Employee Hit by Car in Eureka Incident

Eureka, CA (October 7, 2020) – A Caltrans worker was injured in a crash in Eureka. The accident occurred on the morning of October 7 on Highway 101.

Charles Hatherill, Jr., 46, of Eureka, was working in the southbound lanes of Highway 101, near Indianola Cutoff Road, when he stepped out into the road and was hit by a Dodge pickup. He complained of pain and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the Dodge, Paul Giacomini, 65, of Fortuna, was not injured.
