CHP Officer Hit by Drunk Driver on State Route 94


Driver Flees Lemon Grove Accident

Lemon Grove, CA (August 13, 2019) – A CHP officer was hit and injured by a drunk driver in Lemon Grove. The accident occurred on the evening of August 13 on State Route 94.

A San Diego California Highway Patrol officer was removing debris from State Route 94 when he noticed a car speeding toward him. The vehicle stopped, but when the officer approached the driver, they hit the gas. The driver hit the police officer and patrol car and sped off.

The officer was injured but was able to call for help. Police found the driver about a mile away.

The driver, an unidentified man, took a Breathalyzer test. He was handcuffed and put in the back of a police car. He was arrested for DUI. The man’s girlfriend showed up in her car at the man’s arrest. She also failed a sobriety test and was arrested. 

A woman believed to be the man’s girlfriend showed up in her own car during his arrest and also failed a sobriety test, according to CHP. She was arrested as well.

The officer was taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries.

PG&E Says It Knew Its Lines Could Spark Fires

PG&E Corp acknowledged in July 2019 that it has known for many years that its power lines could fail, sparking wildfires in the process. The acknowledgment came in a federal court filing which had been mandated by U.S. district judge William Alsup, who had ordered PG&E to respond to a Wall Street Journal article on a “paragraph-by-paragraph basis.”
