Cristian Gomez Barraza Killed in Crash on State Route 371 Near Barbara Trail

Car Goes Down Embankment in Fatal Aguanga Accident

Aguanga, CA (August 15, 2020) – A man was killed in a crash in Aguanga. The fatal accident occurred on the afternoon of August 15 on State Route 371.

Palm Desert resident Cristian Gomez Barraza, 27, was heading west on State Route 371, near Barbara Trail. He was speeding in a Subaru Crosstrek when he lost control around a curve. He went into oncoming traffic and hit a Kia Optima driven by a 24-year-old man. The Subaru rolled 40 feet down an embankment. Gomez Barraza died at the accident scene.

The Kia driver and his passenger, a 19-year-old woman, suffered moderate to serious injuries. Both are from San Jacinto.
