Girl Suffers Broken Bones in Fatal Valley Glen Accident

Valley Glen, CA (September 16, 2019) – A crossing guard was killed in a pedestrian crash in Valley Glen. The fatal accident occurred on the morning of September 16 on Vanowen Street.

Crossing guard Delia Huerta, 57, and a teenage girl were crossing the road when they were hit by a sedan at the 13400 block of Vanowen Street.

Both victims were taken to a local hospital. Huerta later died. The girl suffered broken bones.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to the friends and loved ones of Delia Huerta.

Hidden FDA Database Concealed Reports of Surgical Stapler Malfunctions

A hidden FDA database of medical device failures was shut down in June 2019. The database contains medical device reports submitted to the FDA via its Alternative Summary Reporting Program from 1999 to 2019. Reports which were sent to this database were not, until recently, made public. The Alternative Summary Reporting Program is a non-public database, unlike the FDA’s MAUDE database which publicly logs medical device failures or defects for public review.
