Diana “Nelly” Baez Stabbed, Killed in Attack at ampm Gas Station

Kevin C. Gomez Charged With Murder in Fatal Maywood Incident

Maywood, CA (June 24, 2020) – A gas station clerk was stabbed and killed by a homeless man in Maywood. The fatal attack occurred on the morning of June 24 at the ampm gas station on Slauson Avenue.

A homeless man was fighting with employees at the gas station. He then went inside the store and continued to fight with employees. The clerk, Diana “Nelly” Baez, 26, was found behind the counter with multiple stab wounds. She was taken to a local hospital, where she later died. Another woman suffered abrasions and was treated at the scene.

The suspect, identified as 33-year-old transient Kevin C. Gomez, was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. His bail is set at $2 million.
