DUI Crash on State Route 22 Near Valley View Street Kills USPS Truck Driver

3 Vehicles Involved in Fatal Garden Grove Accident

Fatal Accident 2

Garden Grove, CA (June 9, 2019) – A multi-vehicle crash involving a United States Postal Service semi truck has killed one person. The fatal accident occurred on the morning of June 9 on State Route 22.

The crash happened in the eastbound lanes of State Route 22 near Valley View Street. A vehicle lost control and ended up facing the wrong way. The 26-year-old driver, a man from Irvine, exited his vehicle and was standing on the shoulder when a semi truck hit his car.

The semi truck then hit the center divider. The impact caused it to overturn and catch fire. The driver, a contractor for USPS, died at the accident scene. A third vehicle was involved in the crash.

The driver of the first vehicle was arrested for DUI. Roads were closed for several hours as crews cleaned up spilled fuel, mail and packages.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to the friends and loved ones of the victim.
