Car Loses Control in Fatal San Diego Accident

San Diego, CA (March 7, 2020) – A man was killed in a solo-vehicle crash in San Diego. The fatal accident occurred on the evening of March 7 on Interstate 5.

Eddy Lopez, 23, of Chula Vista, was speeding on southbound Interstate 5, near Via de San Ysidro, when he lost control of his Nissan Sentra. The car went off the road and went down an embankment. The Nissan then overturned, landing on its roof. Lopez died at the accident scene. 

A 22-year-old man from San Diego was a passenger in the Nissan. He was hospitalized with unknown injuries. Intoxication is allegedly a factor in the crash.
