Emilio Zaragoza Killed When Driver Crosses Into Construction Zone on State Route 94

Granite Construction Employee Dies in Fatal Spring Valley Accident

Spring Valley, CA (November 18, 2020) – A construction worker was killed in a crash in Spring Valley. The fatal accident occurred just after midnight on November 18 on State Route 94. 

Emilio Zaragoza, 41, was working on roadway maintenance in an active construction zone on eastbound State Route 94, near Avocado Avenue. There was large equipment in the area as he conducted roadway maintenance.

A 24-year-old woman from El Cajon was driving a Mitsubishi when she drifted to the right, into the construction zone. The woman hit Zaragoza. He died at the accident scene. The driver of the Mitsubishi remained at the crash site.
