David Lee Dues Arrested in Fortuna Incident

Fortuna, CA (November 1, 2020) – A woman suffered minor injuries after she was assaulted by a man in Fortuna. The incident occurred on the evening of November 1 on Fortuna Boulevard.

A 55-year-old woman was working in a business in the 700 block of Fortuna Boulevard. The woman was approached by a man who exposed his genitalia. The man began to assault the woman, causing her to flee to a rear office. The man pursued her and continued to assault her, but the woman fought back. The man fled after a couple of minutes. 

Fortuna police officers responded and arrested David Lee Dues, 33, a transient and registered sex offender. Dues was on active probation. He was required to wear an electronic monitoring device on his ankle, but he had removed it.

Dues was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility. He faces multiple criminal charges, including attempted rape, sexual battery, assault and battery, indecent exposure, soliciting lewd act, burglary, and violation of probation. The woman suffered minor injuries.
